Ron Timm

1989-2000

Ron grew up in Western New York and enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1989. Upon completion of Boot Camp he was sent to Camp Johnson to be trained as an Administrative Clerk. As an 0131 Unit Diary Clerk, Ron was fortunate to serve with many units as Active Duty and a Reservist. In 1990/1991 Ron served with 2nd Fleet Service Support Group and was deployed to Saudi Arabia for Operation Desert Storm/Shield. Upon return to the States he was attached with the 26th MEU and deployed with the USS Spartanburg Country . In 1993 Cpl Timm was discharged from active duty and as a reservist he served with the 8th Tank Battalion, 4th Marine Division, out of Rocherster, NY, and then 1st Battalion, 25th Marines out of Buffalo NY. In 1996 Cpl Timm returned to active duty and was with 3rd Battalion, 7th Marines in 29 Palms eventually deploying to Okinawa Japan. Cpl Timm was sent to Inspector-Instructor Staff, New Haven, CT where he obtained the rank of Sergeant. Sgt Timm was discharged in 2000 and utilizing his Marine Corps Administrative skills, was hired at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution where he is now a Business Analyst.

Tad Duarte

1977-1981

Tad graduated from Fairhaven High School in 1976, entered the Marine Corps in January 1977 through January 1981 with the rank as E4 corporal. MOS-1833 assault amphibious vehicles (marine amtracker) traveled through 17 countries. After the Marines Tad married with two children living on Cape Cod in the town of Yarmouth, Ma. Tad has since retired as a lineman with 40 years of service to the public. Member of the Marine Corps League Detachment 125 and a member of the Jarheads motorcycle club.

Jesse Flynn

2004-2009

Jesse joined the Marines in 2004, after being motivated by the terrorist attack on Sept 11, 2001. Upon graduating bootcamp, Jesse continued his infantry and security training. His first duty station was on a Navy base where he conducted security operations. In 2006 Jesse was attached to 1st battalion 6th Marines as an infantryman and grenadier, eventually deploying to the Garmsir District in Afghanistan. Jesse was awarded the Purple Heart and Navy Marine Corps Achievement Medal with “V” for valor during combat operations. Upon leaving the Marines, Jesse used the GI bill to finish his degree and is currently pursing a Masters in Social Work. Jesse’s own experience with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder has motivated him to work with others in similar situations.

Rick Fatzer

1968-1970

Rick Fatzer is a Marine Veterans Foundation of Cape Cod founding committee member. Rick entered the Marines in San Diego in July 1968 and was discharged in 1970 after a tour in Vietnam. Originally from California, Rick moved to Massachusetts with his wife and two dogs in 2016. Rick is a Certified Public Accountant and still does seasonal tax work on the Cape. Since moving to the Cape, he has found the Marine Corps brotherhood he was missing in California. Rick was honored to be invited to serve on the first Marine Ball board.
